3-plate convenience package containing 1 ea of Brucella Blood Agar (BRU), Phenylethyl Alcohol Agar (PEA), & split bi-plate containing both BBE & LKV agar in a single package. Media are prepared, dispensed, & packaged under oxygen-free conditions to prevent the formation of oxidized products prior to use.BRU, PEA, BBE, & LKV media may be utilized in the initial set up of clinical specimens to aid in the isolation & identification from mixed flora samples. BRU is a non-selective general enrichment Med. supporting broad spectrum anaerobic growth. PEA is a selective Med. that inhibits facultative gram-negative rods & swarming of some Clostridium & Proteus species. LKV is a selective & differential Med. for the isolation & partial ID of obligately anaerobic gram-negative bacilli.

Brucella Blood Agar (BRU) allows isolation, quantification, & identification of anaerobic bacteria from clinical specimens. This media will support the growth of aerobic & facultative bacteria if incubated appropriately. This media is prepared, stored, & dispensed under oxygen-free conditions to prevent the formation of oxidized products prior to use. BRU is also available in a 4-plate package or packaged w/ other media types in a single convenience pack.BRU agar is an enriched non-selective media that supports the growth of fastidious microorganisms. BRU agar contains casein, peptones, yeast extract, & dextrose. It is supplemented w/ vitamin K & hemin to facilitate the recovery of fastidious anaerobes, & pigment prod. of Prevotella melaninogenica. Sheep blood provides growth factors & allows the observation of hemolytic reactions such as w/ Clostridium perfringens.

A built-in grid facilitates counting colonies, helping to provide fast, precise and consistent results. Each Petrifilm Aerobic Count Plate contains a water-soluble gelling agent, nutrients and indicator — all the components needed for microbial growth with no agar preparation required. The Petrifilm Aerobic Count Plate provides total aerobic count in as little as 48 hours. A red indicator dye in the plate colors all colonies red for better contrast and easier colony counting. The red colonies are also easily distinguished from opaque food particles that can cause confusion when using other plating methods. In addition, Neogen Petrifilm Aerobic Count Plates can be used to aerobically or anaerobically enumerate lactic acid bacteria in food and environmental samples.

Thioglycollate Broth (THIO) is an enriched nonselective liquid medium used for the growth of microaerophilic and anaerobic bacteria, including fastidious organisms, from clinical specimens. This media is prepared, dispensed, and packaged under oxygen-free conditions to prevent the formation of oxidized products prior to use.THIO is an enriched nonselective liquid medium used for the growth of microaerophilic and fastidious anaerobic organisms. THIO contain casein, meat peptones, yeast extract, and dextrose as the nutritive base. Sodium thioglycollate and L-cystine are included as reducing agents. Hemin and vitamin K1 are included to promote the growth of fastidious anaerobes. A small quantity of agar is added to slow the diffusion of oxygen. A marble chip is included to each tube to act as a pH buffer and neutralize acids produced during growth of the organisms.
